Happy Hee-Hee-Haa-Haa-Halloween! This year’s Halloween song is all about phonics, and it’s simple enough for even young learners 🙂 Mother Hen and her friend, the Friendly Monster, sing about witches, monsters, and zombies who love to make Halloween sounds with their favourite letters. Kids can easily sing (and dance) along during the chorus, practicing the sounds of “W”, “M”, and “Z”. A tip for the teachers and parents: Encourage your kids to add their own verses using other Halloween creatures!

Here are the lyrics:

Intro: Hoo hoo hoo hoo Dee dee dee dee dee dee dee Tata Tata Tata Taa Hee hee hee hee heeee

Verse 1: When the sun goes down You will hear funny sounds When the sun goes down All the creatures come around

Bridge 1: Witches sing a song (Sing a song! Sing a song!) You can sing along (Sing along! Sing along!) Use the letter W (W!) It’s their favourite thing to do (Yeah!) It’s their favourite thing to do (And they sing) Chorus Woo woo woo woo Weewee weewee weewee wee Wawa wawa wawa waa Wee hee hee hee heeeee

Verse 2: When the sun goes down You will hear funny sounds When the sun goes down All the creatures come around

Bridge 2: Monsters sing a song (Sing a song! Sing a song!) You can sing along (Sing along! Sing along!) Use the letter M (M!) You’ll sound just like them (Yeah!) You’ll sound just like them (And they sing) Chorus Moo moo moo moo Meemee meemee meemee mee Mama mama mama mama maa Mee hee hee hee heeeee

Verse 3: When the sun goes down You will hear funny sounds When the sun goes down All the creatures come around

Bridge 3: Zombies sing a song (Sing a song! Sing a song!) You can sing along (Sing along! Sing along!) Use the letter Zed or Zee (Zed or Zee!) Sing along happily (Yeah!) Sing along happily (And they sing) Chorus Zoo zoo zoo zoo Zeezee zeezee zeezee zee Zaza zaza zaza zaa Zee hee hee hee heeeee

Outro Ha ha ha ha haa Tee he he he hee Raa ra ra ra ra Arooooo! Boo!

NOTE: In the 3rd verse the lyrics “Use the letter Zed or Zee” appear. For those of you in the US, you may not be familiar with the term “zed”, which is what many other English speaking countries use for the letter Z. We included this so that the song will work in both cases. We also decided to write the letter Z phonetically (Zee) to make that line consistent.
